How to perform Umrah?

STEP

Ihram

✤ Start your Umrah journey with a sincere intention to enter the state of Ihram and engage in the rituals of Umrah, with the recitation of the Talbiyah. Then, put on the Ihram garments.

STEP

Tawaf

✤ It is performed by circling the Kaaba seven times in an anti-clockwise direction, starting from the Black Stone (Hajr al-Aswad). While walking, pilgrims recite duas and praises of Allah, maintaining sincerity, humility, and focus throughout the ritual.

STEP

Sa'i

✤ Walk seven times between Safa and Marwah, starting at Safa, and men jog lightly between the green lights, following the example of Hajar (AS) in her search for water.

STEP

Hair Cutting (Tahallul)

✤ After Tawaf and Sa’i, pilgrims end Umrah by cutting their hair — men shave or shorten it, and women trim 1–2 cm from the ends. Hair may be cut later, but prohibitions remain until done.

Sunnahs of Umrah

✤ Ghusl (ritual bath) before entering Ihram.

✤ Applying perfume to the body (not on Ihram cloth) after Ghusl.

✤ Praying two rak‘ahs after wearing Ihram.

✤ Entering Masjid al-Haram with the right foot, reciting Bismillah and the dua for entering the mosque.

✤ Touching or kissing the Black Stone (Hajr al-Aswad) at the start of Tawaf, if possible.

✤ Ramal – Men should walk briskly with short steps during the first three rounds of Tawaf.

✤ Idtiba‘ – Men uncover the right shoulder during Tawaf.

✤ Pray two rak‘ahs after Tawaf behind Maqam Ibrahim if space allows; otherwise, pray anywhere in the Masjid al-Haram.

– In the first rak‘ah, recite Surah al-Kafirun after al-Fatihah.

– In the second rak‘ah, recite Surah al-Ikhlas after al-Fatihah.

✤ Drink Zamzam water after Tawaf and make dua.

✤ Make abundant Dhikr and Duas throughout Umrah with humility and sincerity.
